In an effort to reduce youth unemployment in San José, Mayor Sam Liccardo created the San José Works youth employment initiative in 2015. The program brings together community-based organizations, businesses, non-profits, and City Departments to provide job opportunities to over 1,200 youth annually. Through internships and access to job training, San José Works invests in pathways to employment opportunities for at-risk youth in some of San Jose’s most vulnerable neighborhoods. Â

In the summer of 2020, San Jose Works introduced a mentoring program that complements program curricula and reviews mentor career paths, career exploration, growth mindsets, overcoming challenges, and building relationships. Join SJ Works as a mentor! We will match youth participants with mentors that match their academic and career aspirations.Â
Due to public health concerns, this program is 100% virtual via Zoom.
We look forward to your participation!
